DLG
Dark, Latin Groove (or DLG) is exactly that,
an exciting music band based on Latin salsa but mixed in with
elements of reggae, hip-hop and house. The group got together
in New York in the Latin scene with producer Sergio
George; he discovered the singers Huey Dunbar and James
"Da Barba" de Jesús – the first, a
smooth soul singer and the second a rapper with reggae blends
who had imitated both Tito
Nieves and Sistah Souljah — and joined them together
to create DLG.
After signing with Sergio’s record seal, Sir George
Records, DLG debuted in April of 1996, with Dark Latin Groove,
stimulating record with George himself at the keyboard, Marc
Quiñones for percussion and Rubén Rodríguez
at the bass, among others. In August of 1997 they released
Swing On.
