La Lupe
Singer Guadalupe Victoria Yoli Raymond, known
as La Lupe, began working with music when finishing her studies
to become a teacher, performing live in different public events.
In 1962, the artist, also known as La Yiyiyi, who lived in
New York, got together with percussionist Mongo
Santamaría and made a record called "Mongo
presenta a La Lupe" in 1963.
After a successful decade, in 1974, the Cuban performer recorded
"Un encuentro con la Lupe", having the opportunity
of playing live at Carnegie Hall in New York in 1975 and forming
a group with Tito Puente
to make an album called "La Pareja", released in
1978. La Lupe passed away in a New York hospital in February
1992.
