Sol & Soul
Just like "Spirits of Havana", Sol
& Soul was created when one of Canada’s best musicians
went to Cuba and fell in love with the music. After various
years of studying with Joel Páez, Joel Domínguez
and other timba giants,
drummer Mike Gerald had the idea of recording an album in
Cuba, with members of the best Timba bands.
Gerald and his co-producer Eduar Bernal Pina put together
an all-star group with members Paulito FG, Carlos
Manuel, and with great guest musician such as Juan Cerito,
Alexander Abreu, and Joel Páez (all from the legendary
band that recorded Paulito’s "Con la conciencia
tranquila") as well as with Amaury Pérez and
Sandier Ante, ex composers and singers in Charanga
Habanera and Charanga
Forever.
