Wichy Camacho
Known for his crystalline voice, Wichy Camacho
is one of the session vocalists most in demand in Puerto Rico.
His curriculum includes recordings with many of the best artists
in Puerto Rico, including Omar Alfanno, Johnny Caban, Ricardo
Arjona, Celenia, Juan Carlos Coronel, Charlie Cruz, Carlos
David, Descarga Boricua, Grupo Macambila, Freddy Gutiérrez,
Isidro Infante,
Manny Manuel, Ismael
Miranda, Carlos Nuno, and Lalo Rodríguez. His voice
was heard on Wichy Camacho ’s
internationally successful 1997 album "Contra la Corriente"
and on Miguel Antonio’s, "Exclusivamente"
in 1998. He continues to record and perform with Eddie
Palmieri’s band.
Although he recorded his album debut as a soloist, "Daría
el alma", in 1984, Camacho dedicated most of his early
career to singing back-ups. He performed with Luis Enrique’s
group since 1989 until a little after recording his second
soloist album, "Con la Romance", in 1995. While
he continued maintaining a very busy schedule as back-up singer,
Camacho found time to build up his solo career. His third
solo album, "La Romance", was released in 1996.
